"In the priestly life, in the episcopal ministry, Archbishop Gomis and I associated and worked together as two brothers" His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith

The body of His Grace the Archbishop Oswald Gomis Archbishop Emeritus of Colombo was brought today (3rd) morning to the Archbishops' House Chapel, Colombo. His Eminence with the Auxiliary Bishops; Rt. Rev. Dr. Maxwell Silva, Rt. Rev. Dr. J. D. Anthony Jayakody and Rt. Rev. Dr. Anton Ranjith conducted the Funeral Service.

"I feel blessed to associate with him during the time we are at St. Aloysius' Seminary until now. His tremendous support uplifted me to be strong in God's choices in my life. He did great service and sacrifices for the children and the Archdiocese of Colombo. Especially in the education field, he left a huge legacy by opening various schools in Colombo. "For the dust we are and to dust we shall return", but during the time we live, we get the opportunity to do powerful things only through the grace of the Almighty God. Therefore, all of us who have received the loving calling of God should make it our life's theme to always obey Him ", briefed His Eminence during the service.

“Born in Kelaniya, educated in various fields, worked as the editor of the Gnanartha Pradeepaya newspaper, and has worked with Archbishop Thomas Benjamin Cardinal Cooray, OMI, and Archbishop Nicholas Marcus Fernando as an Auxiliary Bishop. In 1995 on the 15th of November, he was transferred to the Diocese of Anuradhapura and I to the Diocese of Ratnapura as Bishops to make strengthen our ministry as servants and shepherds and we got the opportunity to work together on many occasions even after" recalled the memories by His Eminence with a sorrowful heart.
