Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith visits CCD to meet All Saints church bomb suspect

The Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith, the Archbishop of Colombo, visited the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) on Independence Day (February 4) to see the well-being of Francis Muneendran, who was arrested in connection with the discovery of a live grenade in the All Saints' Church in Borella on January 11. A few priests accompanied the Cardinal. The Cardinal boycotted the 74th Independence Day celebrations because of the detention of innocent people.

The Independence Day Holy Mass was celebrated by Fr. Sharman Fernando, the parish priest of all Saints Church, Borella. After the Mass, His Eminence spoke to the people and explained the bomb incident's current position.

Rev. Fr. Chrishantha Fernando, the media spokesman of the Archdiocese of Colombo, said it is clear that the grenade attack was planned to disrupt the special service that was to be held to mark the 1000th day of the Easter Sunday attack.
