PRAYER VIGIL MARCH


A prayer vigil march will be organized on 20th April 2024 by the Archdiocesan Kithu Dana Pubuduwa Apostolate from Kochchikade to Katuwapitiya, to reach Katuwapitiya Church by 7.30 a.m.

 

Ø  4.00 p.m.           Holy Mass at Kochchikade Shrine

Ø  5.30 p.m.           The march begins

 

MORNING PROGRAM


        Ø 8.15 am                Invited priests, nuns and lawyers take their allocated seats 

  Ø  8.30 a.m.           Arrival of the Invitees and distinguished Guests and                                    Diplomats 

   Ø 8.40 a.m.           Introduction

  Ø  8.45 a.m.           Observing Silence (Two Minutes)

  Ø  8.50 a.m.           Welcome address by the administrator – Rev. Fr.                                          Lalith Perera 

  Ø  8.55 a.m.           Lighting the Candles while the Church Bells are rung 

                              Meanwhile, the Easter Sunday Song will be played 

  Ø  9.05 a.m.           Prayers from other Religious Leaders -

                              Speeches by the dignitaries

 

  Ø  11.00 a.m.          Refreshments for the invitees 

  Ø  11.30 a.m.          Almsgiving

Morning Programme

·         Welcoming the Auxiliary Bishops by the Victims

·         Introduction

·         8.30 am – Prayer Service

·         Prayer for the Justice and peace of Easter Sunday Tragedy

·         8.45 am – Ringing of Bells followed by Holy Mass presided over by Bishop Maxwell Silva and Bishop J D Anthony

·         Procession to the Monument

·         Short Prayer

·         Offering of Flowers and lighting Candles at the monument

·         Alms giving for about 2000 heads (Lunch)

Afternoon Programme


                     March from Maris Stella College, Negombo

to

St. Sebastian’s Church, Katuwapitiya.

 

Ø  2.30 p.m.: Arrival of Bishops, Priests and Lay faithful from the Parishes.

Ø  3.00 p.m.: General Introduction

o   (The clergy will gather at the inner compound of the school)

Ø  : Inviting the Bishops and other religious dignitaries on the stage.

o   Introduction to the March (Sinhala / Tamil / English)

o   Speech by Ven. Thero                                                    

o   Speech by Moulavi

o   Speech by the President of the Catholic Bishop’s conference

o   Recitation of the Prayer (prayer for Truth and Justice)

Ø  3.30 p.m.: Beginning of the March

o   Statue of the Risen Christ.

o   Bishops and Religious Leaders.

o   Photo bearers

o   Clergy (all priests from the Archdiocese, All Religious (CMRS), Other diocese,)

o   Statue of St. Anthony

o   Lay people (two hundred persons (minimum) from each parish of the Negombo Region and fifty members from the Archdiocesan Apostolates and pious associations)

o   Statue of St. Sebastian

 

5.30 pm Arrival at St. Sebastian’s Church, Katuwapitiya
