The Supreme Court informed that Rev. Fr. Cyril Gamini Fernando will not be arrested

Over 300 members of the Catholic clergy staged a ‘Silent Protest’ opposite the Supreme Court complex in a show of solidarity with  Rev. Fr. Cyril Gamini Fernando, who had filed a Fundamental Rights application. We also stood up to demand justice for the victims of the Easter Sunday attacks, which had severely compromised national security. There is a strong need to ensure the safety of the country even now. Catholic Priests, Nuns, and members of the Buddhist Clergy had joined the protest. They filed an FR Petition last Tuesday in the Supreme Court seeking an order to prevent the CID from arresting him. Meanwhile, the Attorney General yesterday informed the Supreme Court that Rev. Fr. Cyril Gamini Fernando will not be arrested at the moment over a complaint made by State Intelligence Service (SIS) Head, Major General Suresh Salley.
