The annual Chrism Mass of the Archdiocese of Colombo was solemnly celebrated at All Saints Church, Borella, with deep reverence and ecclesial unity. His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, Archbishop of Colombo, presided over the celebration, joined by the Apostolic Nuncio to Sri Lanka, His Excellency Most Rev. Brian Udaigwe, the Emeritus Bishop of Badulla, Most Rev. Dr. Winston Fernando, the Auxiliary Bishops of Colombo, priests from across the Archdiocese, as well as religious sisters and lay faithful.

The Chrism Mass is a significant liturgical event where the three Holy Oils are blessed and consecrated for sacramental use throughout the Archdiocese. These are the Oil of the Sick, used for anointing those who are ill; the Oil of Catechumens, used in preparation for Baptism; and the Sacred Chrism, a fragrant oil used in Baptism, Confirmation, Holy Orders, and the dedication of altars and churches.

These oils, once blessed, are distributed to the parish churches, where they will be used throughout the year in the celebration of the sacraments. Their presence in each parish symbolizes the unity of the local church with the diocesan bishop and the universal Church.

The celebration also included the renewal of priestly promises, where priests reaffirmed their dedication to ministry and service. The Chrism Mass stands as a powerful witness of faith, communion, and the ongoing mission of the Church in the Archdiocese of Colombo.
