The Archdiocese of Colombo witnessed a profound and spiritually enriching event on Sunday, 26th January, as the Enthronement of the Word of God was observed in all parishes. The highlight of the celebration was the solemn enthronement of the Holy Bible at the Cathedral of St. Lucia, led by His Eminence, the Cardinal, in a deeply moving ceremony that set the tone for the entire Archdiocese. Enthronement Bible Following the example set at the Cathedral, every parish prepared its Sanctuary with reverence, dedicating a sacred space for the Holy Bible. During the Main Eucharistic Celebration, the Word of God was enthroned with great solemnity, emphasizing the centrality of Scripture in the life of the faithful. Parishioners were encouraged to bring their family Bibles, and families participated together in the sacred liturgy, reinforcing the bond between Scripture and daily Christian living. Beyond the parish celebrations, families were invited to enthrone the Word of God in their homes, establishing a permanent and visible reminder of the importance of Scripture in their spiritual journey. Printed Enthronement Service guides and Bible Reading Plans were distributed to encourage ongoing engagement with the Word of God in personal and communal prayer.
This significant event, marking the Jubilee Year, reinforced the mission of the Church to spread and honor the Word of God. The faithful were encouraged to read the special interview with His Eminence in Gnanartha Pradeepaya, providing deeper insights into the role of Scripture in Catholic life. Through this sacred observance, the Archdiocese renewed its commitment to making the Holy Bible a living presence in the hearts, homes, and parishes of the faithful.
