The Archdiocese of Colombo joyfully extends its heartfelt congratulations to His Lordship Rt. Rev. Dr. Mohottige Don Nishantha Sagara Jayamanne, S.S.S., on his appointment as the Bishop of Anuradhapura, announced by the Holy See on 16 December 2025.
His Holiness Pope Leo has accepted the resignation of Rt. Rev. Dr. Norbert Marchall Andradi, O.M.I., from the pastoral governance of the Diocese of Anuradhapura and has appointed Rev. Fr. Nishantha Sagara Jayamanne, S.S.S., until now Professor of Philosophy at the Our Lady of Lanka National Seminary and Provincial Vicar, as his successor.
The Archdiocese of Colombo gives thanks to God for this gracious appointment and assures His Lordship Bishop-elect Rev. Fr. Nishantha Sagara of our prayers and fraternal support as he assumes the shepherding of the Diocese of Anuradhapura.
May the Lord grant him wisdom, courage, and pastoral zeal, and may the Blessed Virgin Mary, Our Lady of Lanka, intercede for him as he begins this new mission of service to the People of God.
