Chancery Office
The Chancery Office of the Archdiocese of Colombo serves as the central administrative body of the Archbishop, ensuring the proper governance of ecclesiastical affairs across the Archdiocese. It oversees official documentation, maintains diocesan records, issues canonical documents, and coordinates the implementation of archdiocesan policies and decrees.
Acting in accordance with Canon Law (can. 482 - 491), the Chancery is responsible for authenticating, preserving, and archiving all official acts and correspondence of the Archdiocese. It supports clergy, parishes, and Church institutions by facilitating the legal and pastoral structures necessary for the orderly and faithful operation of the local Church.

Purpose of the Chancery Office
- Uphold the canonical and pastoral governance of the Archdiocese, ensuring that all actions are documented and in line with the Church's legal framework
- Safeguard the integrity of Church records and archives, supporting transparency and accountability in Church life (cf. Can. 486 - 491).
- Provide the Archbishop and his collaborators with administrative and legal support to guide the Church in unity and order.
- Serve the People of God by ensuring that official documents (e.g., decrees, appointments, dispensations, and sacramental records) are issued accurately and efficiently.
